EVENTS THIS MONTH AT THE BREWERY
Whether its celebrating a birthday, anniversary, wedding, retirement, baby shower, high school reunion or more we host dozens and dozens of events all year. Some, like Carolina Indie Fest, our Renaissance Fair and Brews Blues and BBQ, are larger and more planned. Others, like personal celebrations, are spur of the moment. Regardless of the reason we are ready to host you and your party - if you have questions reach out through our Google Business Profile, over Facebook, Instagram or email at info@huggermuggerbrewing.com and let us know how we can help make your event special.
July Events
What ELSE is going on this month? A lot, actually. Here's a listing of all presently known brewery events in July:
* Our July 3rd First Friday event is chock-a-block full of fun. Harmon's Deutsche Kuche serves up German foods starting 4pm, crafty vendors are set up by 6pm, karaoke kicks off at 8pm and World Cup action on the big (85 inch!) TV at 2pm, 6pm and 9:30pm.
Our karaoke nights are mostly unstructured but this year we have a small portion of the evening dedicated to folks who want to compete. The crowd nominates the winner of the evening by general acclaim. In December the winners of the previous months will face off in a friendly sing-off to see who wins a handsome (and pricy) WWF style belt.
* We're hitting the dance floor on Saturday, July 11th with our friends at Tacos El Primo for a Latin Dance night. It's not the first Latin dance night we've hosted but this is the going to be the best by far! The order of the evening:
World Cup action on TV
- quarter-finals at 5 & 9pm
Loteria (Mexican bingo) with prizes
- starting at 6pm
Taquiza (taco bar)
- starting at 7pm
DJ Kriz making us dance
- from 8pm-11pm
I'd say this is going to be THE event of that weekend but wait, there's more ...
* On Sunday, July 12th we host Eduardo de Rosamaria for an ensemble performance of Spanish guitar and flamenco dance. Those of you who attended this May's Carolina Indie Fest will recall Eduardo's virtuoso performance as he bewitched the crowd with his guitar and serenaded select attendees. Now we add a vocalist (Mara Gisele) and a professional flamenco dancer (Marissa la Tranquila) to the mix and we've got a recipe for a grand event.
The brewery will be closed during the performance out of respect to the professional artists at work. Doors open at 2pm, performance starts at 2:30pm with an intermission from 3:30-4pm & performance finale from 4-4:30pm. Brewery re-opens to the public at 5pm.
There are a limited number of tickets and (as of June 25th) we're sitting at 20% sold without advertising the event. This will be a hot ticket when we start marketing efforts and, at $32 (including one adult beverage), it's a great price for an afternoon of high culture. Get your tickets here.
* also of artistic note, our Grit & Grain, Canvas & Cloth: an Indie Art Show is on Friday, July 24th from 6-9pm and again on Saturday, July 25th from 4-9pm. This multi media art show features artists demonstrating their fluency with a variety of media including pottery, photography, charcoal on canvas, acrylic on canvas and clothing design.
Works from each media will be displayed & artists present to discuss them. Browse at your own pace. This is a free event open to the public.
* flamenco is not the only dancing we're doing this month! How about a jig or reel at our Celtic Jam on Sunday, July 26th at 2pm? The jam is led by an eclectic group of musicians known as the O'Carolinians - an ensemble dedicated to performing classic Irish and Celtic music. They will transport you to another era and, oddly enough, it's a breath of frsh air.
* line dancing with Buckles and Boots is scheduled for the first and third Sundays in July starting at 2pm and running until 5pm. $20 gets you dance instruction, drink of your choice and social dance time. If you want a sneak peek at the songs you will dance to then check out that Buckles and Boots site. There are a lot of returning dancers every month which speaks well to how it's organized and how welcoming, helpful and fun the atmosphere the event is.
* looking for something even more exercise-y? Vanessa, our part time bartender & fitness guru, is leading a pop-up zumba event on Sunday, July 19th at 11am. She already has a bit of a following and takes RSVP's for this event over her Instagram account.
* thinking about exercising something else? How about your brain? Our next book club meeting is Wednesday, July 8th at 6:30pm. The book we're reading for July is Land by Maggie O'Farrell. This sounds like an intense read about the time following the Great Hunger in Ireland - if you like a good rebellion against norms and hierarchies then get reading! Are you looking for a good read? We have many fine book sellers locally including Sips & Sequels, Monkeykat or Fulfillity Books in Hope Mills. Of course your local library always appreciates the foot traffic and those books are free (but they want them back!)
* bring your brain and (hopefully green) thumb to our semi-regular Bier Garten Garden Club led by our local Cooperative Extension. We meet on July 13th at 6:30pm. This month Cooperative Extension is bringing in vermicomposting expert and Extension Master Gardener Intern Carolynn Fox to teach us how to raise happy, odor-free worm colonies that create premium amendment for your plants. Attending the class is free, but you can also pre-order a kit to build and take home your very own active worm bin during the workshop! Kit pre-orders close on Monday, July 6, so don’t wait—check out the ticket options on Eventbrite.
* another fun event for brainiacs is our Tuesday night trivia. Trivia master Zach is paying out cash prizes to trivia teams this year! Between March and September Zach will be tallying team point totals to determine what teams will win cash prizes for first, second and third place. A certain number of lowest scores by each team will be thrown out (so you can miss some trivia nights and still qualify for prizes). Zach has the specifics, go see him on a Tuesday night at 7pm and learn
* speaking of games, we are hosting a cornhole tournament on July 11th in support of the North State Bombers - a local travel baseball team. More info here. These kids are cute as buttons and are doing things the right way - their parents had organized a carwash fundraiser but cancelled as drought conditions worsened. Community minded stuff right there and great for the young ones to see that in action. Hope you will consider joining us.
* Speaking of community minded, boxes of fresh, locally grown fruits and veggies are arriving to the beer hall every Thursday now. Have you signed up for your box yet? You can sign up at any time throughout the season for these Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) boxes. There are options for purchasing even more items in the online store for delivery with your boxes. A big thanks to Cliff Pilson of CV Pilson Farms for taking on the CSA box program again this year.
* This month's crafting adventures includes two Crafts and Drafts events - one on Monday the 20th and again on Friday, the 31st. Both are led by Jessica Rigsbee of My Depiction Addiction - go to the website for more details on the events. Jessica is pioneering a subscription based model for her programming which I think says a lot about her approach to innovation and listening to her customers.
* We are also hosting a Paint Your Pet party on Saturday, July 18th at 4:30pm. Participants must email an image of their pet to Stephanie and your best friend is sketched onto a 16x20 canvas which you paint at the event. The deadline is July 10. No experience is needed. All supplies and instructions are included. Cost is $60 and it includes one drink.
* It deserves to be listed higher but our monthly Bottle Share group meets Wednesday, July 11th at 7pm. This is a free event open to all, our habit is to bring a couple bottles or cans of beers you enjoy to share with the group. They drink all styles and are curious about new breweries. This is the only event that outside alcohol is allowed to be consumed in the brewery.
* Normally on the first Sunday of the month we have yoga with Sanford Yoga & Community Center starting at 11am. Yoga is immediately followed by Stitch & B**ch where both stitching and b***hing are featured. We just celebrated an amazing Pride event with Sanford Yoga and they deserve a month off!
Our Facebook events page features most all of our events including anything I've missed here. See you in the brewery!
